Fillers
Facial and dermal fillers can soften facial creases and wrinkles and restore the youthful fullness to the face, add plump up lips, fill in scars, sunken cheeks, and skin depressions. In fact, dermal fillers have been called “liquid facelifts” because they offer many of the benefits of a surgical facelift without the downtime. Although they are not effective in dealing with excess sagging skin, these soft tissue fillers help to add more volume and provide immediate results at a lower cost than surgery. These treatments aren’t permanent, however, and they must be repeated and maintained. Some dermal fillers are used in conjunction with other skin rejuvenation treatments such as injections of Botox. Your medical practitioner will assess your needs and recommend one or a combination of treatments to achieve your desired results.
Similar to facial fillers, nose fillers are also gaining popularity in Singapore as more and more people choose non-invasive procedures to improve their looks.
There are different kinds of fillers in the market. What differentiates them is that some are permanent, while some fillers need regular re-injections. Be careful with fillers that claim to be permanent; they contain products that cause encapsulation. This can harden nose tissue that may eventually need further surgery. Here are some of the common fillers that have received good reviews in the market:
1. Aquamid
Aquamid is not a permanent filler, but just one treatment can last for up to 5 years before you need another filler. It has been proven safe and it comes in the form of a homogeneous hydrogel. Data on people who have used it show that there is minimal risk associated with this brand – problems develop in only 0.1% of people who use it. If you choose to use Aquamid for your nose job, make sure to find an experienced doctor who knows how it is used because there are very strict guidelines on how it is injected.
2. Restylane
This filler was originally developed to decrease wrinkles, but doctors can also use it to fill out noses instead of undergoing rhinoplasty. It can also be used to enhance the lips for better volume and contouring and reduce other aging lines.
3. Juverderm
With this filler, you can expect to very effectively get rid of nasolabial folds, resulting in a greatly improved appearance.
As with any brand of nose fillers, you are advised to choose a doctor who has vast experience in handling them. Using nose fillers is a great alternative to undergoing rhinoplasty, and they are
just as good as the real thing. Unless you need rhinoplasty for reasons other than aesthetic ones, fillers should do quite well.
